Levantine Public Diplomacy had a great time hula-ing at its recent windmill: the Aloha Zimbabwe program.
LPD is partnered with the U.S. Embassy to Zimbabwe to bring the Ambassadors of Aloha, Keola Beamer, Moanalani Beamer and Jeff Peterson, to Zimbabwe for the Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA)–the largest cultural festival in Southern Africa.
Prior to HIFA, the Ambassadors of Aloha visited Bulawayo to work with Siyaya Arts to connect connect the spirit of Aloha with the southern African concept of “ubuntu” (“that which connects humanity”). Keola and company also had a wonderful time teaching the children of ZimKids Orphans Trust to Hula!
After Bulawayo, the Ambassadors of Aloha had an incredible time in Harare, performing at HIFA! Jeff Peterson kicked off the HIFA Street Stage with a guitar virtuoso performance, and the ensemble filled the Global Stage with Aloha!
Beyond packed performances, Keola and Jeff participated in a Global Guitar workshop; meanwhile Jeff joined in for a Global Guitar performance!
