Levantine Public Diplomacy had an incredible time in Harare, running the Next Level Zimbabwe program!
LPD partners with the University of North Carolina’s Department of Music to implement the U.S. Department of State’s new hip hop diplomacy program Next Level.
The Next Level Zimbabwe program brought together a talented team of hip hop artist-educators, including MC Kane Smego, DJ Juan G., Jaci Caprice and Ken Fury.
The NL Zim program partnered with the U.S. Embassy to Zimbabwe, Magamba Network and Jbilika Dance Trust to run a hip hop academy at The Book Cafe in Harare that had the whole city abuzz.
Meanwhile, the NL Zim team had amazing collaboration sessions with mbira music and djembe drummers, as well as adventures to game parks.
The NL Zim program ended with a final performance at The Book Cafe in Harare, and a “Peace in the Hood” show in the Glen Nora Township.
As Next Level Site Manager, LPD’s Quixote-in-Chief works with the NL artist-educators, and serves as a liaison to the U.S. Embassy and local partners, to run the NL program in-country.
