The World Cup

Levantine Public Diplomacy is tilting at a new windmill: the World Cup!

LPD is honored to be sending two American Music Abroad alumni bands to Brazil next week with the U.S. Embassy to do cultural diplomacy programming in conjunction with the World Cup and July 4th festivities.

LPD is sending The Clinton Curtis Band, who toured the Carribean, Central and South America on the AMA 2012-2013 season, to Vitória, Recife and Brasilia to share their rock, blues and roots music. They will also get a taste of Brazilian styles of Congo, Frevo and other musical delights of the Samba Nation.

Meanwhile, our favorite public diplomacy knight-errant will be escorting the Dulcinea Dellas through Southern Brazil. Grammy-nominated Della Mae, who this Quixote toured with through Central Asia, will be visiting Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Campo Grande and Sao Paulo to share their bluegrass music. The Dellas will get to learn some Guacho and Chorinho music along the way.

Should be an epic cultural diplomacy adventure!
